Review of 'Gaudy Night (Lord Peter Wimsey Mystery)' on 'Goodreads'

Another brilliant Wimsey book, if you can call it that.

Pretty much Harriet all the way, except when Wimsey turns up and helps her out a bit.

The story is set in a time when society still frowned down upon women taking up anything other than the role of a good wife. When trouble brews at an all women's college at Oxford, Harriet is requested to help out. Things never turn truly gruesome, but even then, there's a lot that can be lost.

Using the plot, Sayers makes one ruminate about the importance of academic principles - and the great costs sometimes involved in upholding them.
