Review of 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad: What the Rich Teach Their Kids About Money' on 'Goodreads'
1 star
what a load of crap - i read the intro and chp 1 and then had to stop (but skimmed the rest). not only was the writing juvenile and repetitive, but the content was arrogant and absolute bullsh**t
ex: (from author's childhood)
after being told that working for 10 cents/hr was for chumps - the boy runs a comic book library. it's open after school for 2 hours. he hires a girl to be librarian and pays her $1 a week. umm... that's 10 hours a week, so you are paying her 10 cents/hr - the same wage you stated was totally beneath a person.
didn't seem to bother you when you were the one in charge of wages.
(btw - he took home $4 a week for his 3 hours of work; that's how he gets access to the comic books)
this guy idolizes his friend's rich father - …

this guy idolizes his friend's rich father - calls him his 'rich dad' while his real father, the one who wanted him, and raised him & fed him & loved him, he gets called 'poor dad', and takes second billing to 'rich dad' in the title, and in the author's admiration.
shame, shame on him.
and lastly, may i say that anyone who claims to be 'retired' but continues with money making activites: lecturing, marketing money games, authoring this series, etc.... is NOT retired
it's simply a marketing gimmic for his speaking engagements for the wishing-to-be-wealthy people: "I'm in my 40s and retired. Learn from my secrets and redtire early too. Oh, and buy my books / dvd series / game / etc. "
