"Va à Venise. Trouve Scorpia. Tu connaîtras ton destin." Tels sont les mots qui hantent Alex Rider, l'espion surdoué de 14 ans, depuis la fin de sa dernière mission. Après avoir mis ses talents au service du MI 6, Alex est bien décidé à découvrir la vérité par lui-même. Un voyage organisé par son école lui fournit l'opportunité et, aussitôt, Alex commence son enquête. Mais Scorpia n'est autre que la plus grande organisation criminelle du monde, et à sa tête se trouve la belle et mystérieuse Mme Rothman. Celle-ci semble d'ailleurs très bien connaître notre jeune héros ... trop bien peut-être.
A very exciting episode,either because this is where I stopped as a kid or because the stakes for Alex have jumped up tremendously and he's skating the thin end of the wire this time. Whatever the reason I enjoyed this a great deal and think apart from the opening novel it's by far my favourite, although I of course recognise that without a lot of background from the previous books that wouldn't really be the case.
