Review of 'The Girl the Sea Gave Back' on 'Goodreads'
2 stars
There are books that need no sequel. Sky in the deep is one of them.
I did not even understand, that the girl the sea gave back was a sequel, until I already bought the book. Then I thought it was just in the same universe, but no, it's a gooddamn sequel. The writing is really good, that's why I bought the book. But the rest is just bad. I did not care for anything. Such blatant logic mistakes, I got so angry.
"Girl can see into future. Man forces her to predict his future. His prediction sucked. The predicted future came to pass. Man got angry at girl and blames her for future. Man thinks she is at fault that future is like this now."

No man can be so stupid. Not when so many people are watching. The book was full of such things. She decided to tell the story from a dual perspective, and she repeated the same scenes and events from the different perspectives. I would file this under the category "how to waste perfectly good paper". I skipped the chapters about the past, because it did not add anything to the story. I did not understand why they were even there.
It just sucked. The action scenes were okay. There was tension. But there were not enough of them to carry the book. Most of the time nothing happened anyway.
