When her seventeenth summer solstice arrives, Brienna desires only two things: to master her passion and to be chosen by a patron. Review of "The queen's rising" on 'Goodreads'

Someone read Kushiel's Dart and got heavily influenced to write their own book. We have houses, art and passion. There is knowledge to be worshipped and a teacher who turns swordmann to fall in love with. And most prominently, we have a spy that secures the throne for her queen. Even the names are the same. One country is France the other is Britain.

The problem is, if you read Kushiel (and loved it) this book seems so cheap compared to it. There were no epic battles with the skaldi, no deep intense cultures to explore. No infectious, addicting villains. And no shocking unexpected plot twist.

The queen's rising lacked so much. It was an okay story. But for the amount of inspo it took, it became a sad retelling.
