I know nothing about this book going in except that it was a new Angie Thomas book and it all was seasonable from the library when I checked. Turns out this was the perfect time to read it. You don't usually expect ya to describe parenthood so well, but being a new parent myself definitely helped me imagine Maverick's life better. I loved learning more about him after The Hate You Give and the way this book ended right before the stuff Starr tells you happened was perfect.
