The Complete Works of William Shakespeare

This is the first paperback edition of the complete works of Shakespeare in the version prepared by Professor Peter Alexander. In the last decade this text has come to be widely accepted by general readers, performers and examination boards, and was recently adopted by BBC TV for their complete cycle of plays.

This edition contains all the plays, sonnets and other poems of Shakespeare, and also includes a glossary, an index of characters, and the preliminary matter of the Folio Editions. In addition there are essays by Professor Alexander on Shakespeare's comedies, tragedies and histories, together with introductions to the individual plays, and a general introduction trying Shakespeare's development as a dramatist. --back cover
