Because of the time and historical events taking place right now, I found the beginning of this novel difficult. It aligned so well with our current news and never-ending information about white supremacy that it didn't feel like an escape, and while fiction the information about those groups and people is reasonably accurate even if the names are fictional.
That said, this novel fits in well with the Davenport series, and it definitely portrays Lucas as a hunter. This isn't my favorite Prey novel, but it's definitely not among the worst either. I'm not sure how I feel about the end, but it does fit the character. I would like to see more with Letty. I think Sandford could develop a whole new series on her character, and she's only mentioned in this book.
