John Peel was one of the most influential figures in modern popular music, & it was thanks to his Radio One show that bands such as T-Rex, The Smiths, Radiohead & The White Stripes first came to prominence. This is his story.

Interesting and informative. It was a pity that it galloped over the early/mid 90s, which was my period of interest.
From time to time, BBC Radio 6 repeats some of his programmes, but they aren't real. They edit out all the songs played at the wrong speed, and remove anything that isn't by white people with guitars, thus hiding John Peel's real influence on music over the ages.
