Never before has there been an author that writes suffering on the same level as John Hersey. If you are looking for a historical fiction book to read, this is the one. Just read Hiroshima, and I guarantee you will not regret it.
Interesting, but ultimately focuses too much on inconsequential character stories rather than the bigger picture of the history behind Hiroshima and the aftermath in the following decades. That said, it’s sold as a book of character stories, so maybe it’s just not the right book for me. If you’re looking for such a book, it’s well written as one.
