Need a ride?

Just finished S3 of for the second time & have now almost caught up with where I stopped watching a couple of years ago 🤷‍♂️

Nothing against the show at all, quite the contrary – just never had time 🕰️

I promised my friend Dominique Tipper then that I would get to the end soon & finally I’m closer to coming good, if only because my wife is also watching & invested this time 🙂

Night night 😴

From this evening’s (S1E9), the UNS Arboghast orbiting Venus.

In the same episode, the crew of the Rocinante commandeer the Weeping Somnambulist to get to Ganymede.

Which ESA mission connects the two?

JUICE, which after its recent Moon-Earth flyby heads to Venus next August, then back to Earth twice more before arriving at Jupiter in 2031 & ending in orbit around Ganymede.

Science fiction made science fact, albeit hopefully without any protomolecule 😬👍

If you’re in the neighbourhood of the Randstad on Sunday 6 October, consider spending it with us at the annual ESA ESTEC Open Day 🚀🛰️🛸🔭🪐☄️✨👩‍🚀👨‍🚀

Lots to see & do linked to space science & technology, & many astronauts to meet, after the Association of Space Explorers get-together in Noordwijk that week.

I’ll be back there with & our friend Steven Strait aka James Holden of will be too 🦠

Tickets are free, but limited 👇

Ha – that’s no asteroid 🤪

Rewatching S1 of from 2016 & am further reminded how obviously influenced the production team was by Rosetta’s adventures at Comet 67P/C-G over the preceding two years 🙂👍

What goes around comes around though, as at , we’ve since worked with Dominique Tipper, Steven Strait, Shohreh Aghdashloo, & the writers, James SA Corey 🙂

Stay tuned for more science meets science fiction 🖖🤘

Have started watching again with my wife, who’s never seen it 👍

I’d completely forgotten this moment in Episode 3 of Season 1 where a certain comet appears prominently on Miller’s solar system map 🤪

And I can’t remember now either if we brought it up when we spoke to Ty Franck & Daniel Abraham aka James SA Corey, the authors of The Expanse book & show producers, when we had them on an episode of Space Rocks Uplink 🖖🙂🤘

i tooted out yesterday an off-hand comment about how i was enjoying because they actually have to deal with things like g-forces (quite realistic compared to my usual -style ), and it spawned a two-day long multi-branch conversation between at least a dozen people including (but not limited to) Bussard ramjets, fusion reactors, socio-economic analyses of science fiction politics, the list goes on.

the is pretty great.

we are house-sitting for the in-laws, and they have amazon prime logged in on their TV. finally trying out ! watched ep1 last night and excited to get through more of it this weekend.

i might be able to get the account password from mother-in-law, but i really don’t want to get my own subscription or support amazon in general… is there another way to watch without uh, sailing the seven seas?

Now that The Expanse is finished, I wanted to go behind the scenes and explain how they created the best space show of the last decade. Of course, I start with design and concept art!

Here's my interview with Lee Fitzgerald devoted to Season 2!
