I've been atrocious at pushing my own work lately, but I should at least let y'all know Godhunter is 75% off at Smashwords. They've got a huge site-wide sale going on right now. Worth checking out, especially if you're looking for alternative places to support indie authors. ❤️

If you aren't reading any authors of color, you should know that Theodora Taylor cannot write a bad book, check her out. I think Stone and Nikolai are my favorites but The Very Bad Fairgoods trilogy are right up there too. #Romance #Books #Diversity
#FridayKiss: CONFESSION
This is only a spoiler if you don’t know how romances typically end. 😂
Context: Bryony tried to find a loophole in Michael’s strict no-kissing policy, but he quickly shut her down.

Thanks so much to The Fantasy Hive for inviting me to write a guest blog entry for them! https://fantasy-hive.co.uk/2025/02/subverting-the-gothic-in-wooing-the-witch-queen-guest-post-by-stephanie-burgis/
I had a lot of fun with this one.
I have written a cheesy slow burn romance story in space, because the current times call for it: "Three-Year Mission".
OCs, LGBTQ, trans woman protagonist, slow burn, hurt/comfort, spaceship & a cat. Content notes in front of each chapter.
And please take a look at this gorgeous cover art the lovely @mariibyrd made!

I’m looking for suggestions for the March vote of the QRC. The theme is historicals. I have a few on my list, but some are probably more historical than, ah, romantical 😊 and obviously a central queer (in any shape or form) relationship is required.
Indies/lesser known authors encouraged but the books need to be widely available (no Amazon-only books, library accessible).

#JustFinished The Ornithologist's Field Guide to Love by India Holton
Lighthearted palate cleanser. Just what I needed.
Take ornithology, cut-throat competition, a PR push, and mix liberally. Add in a romance where the characters actually like each other for something beyond the chemistry, et voilà! Madcap fun!

New piece in our articles section! Not so much an article, more a cranky old school text generator... and specifically the EXILIAN ROMANTASY BLURB GENERATOR, which can create hundreds of possible Romantasy plots and characters for you to be amused by or ponder genre tropes over!
If you'd like to hit a button and get your very own, very tropey, romantasy plot without needing an AI model to burn through a bunch of trees to do it, this model has you covered! Check it out and let us know your favourites that it comes up with :)

Beware of Men Bearing Flowers
“There is a band of (usually) male critical admirers who deny the significance of her love life as if they are gallantly upholding her honour. But they are brushing against the grain of Spark’s own passions and experience of love.”

Happy #Valentines Day in celebration- I offer a blog about romance books that feature diverse characters, mostly in response to the saddest list I ever saw from Goodreads (thanks @wendypalmer )for the push. I’m sure I missed some good ones so- let me know! #bookrecommendations #bookreview #romance #bookstadon #microreview #diversevoices #ownvoices #bookblog https://hollysreadingescapades.blogspot.com/2025/02/happy-valentines-day-lets-talk-romance.html?m=1
For #MythologyMonday -- how about the #Roman myth of the #constellation Cygnus?
The story goes that when Phaethon, the son of Helios, drove his father's chariot he lost control & Zeus/Jupiter had to kill him.
In the aftermath, Phaethon's lover, Cygnus, collected his bones to give him a proper funeral. The gods were so moved by this devotion, they put him in the night sky as a swan (who famously mate for life).

I've really been enjoying reading @thesmutreport posts and reviews!
Their podcast is also great!
If you haven't checked them out you absolutely should!
Romance readers, if a blurb implies that the love interest will be a certain character, but then in the book itself, that character turns out to be a right dick and the real love interest is someone else, is that acceptable or a big fat NO?
Asking for a friend*.
*me, I’m the friend [god, I hate writing blurbs]
Just finished reading Thoroughly Disenchanted by Alexandra Almond after a recommendation by @wendypalmer
Had a really good time with it too. A strong first book from the Australian author. Cosy rural Australia setting fantasy romance.
For some reason (and they aren't the same _at all_ but vibes I guess?) they immediately put me in mind of and made me go and re-read the Scholamance trilogy by Naomi Novik.
