I have a tendency to hoard obscure travel guides I find in public bookshelves ("Little Free Libraries" and the like) - not only because I am interested in the regions in question, but also because I want to use them as inspiration for #ttrpg #worldbuilding .

Of course, this would require that I actually read them instead of just hoarding them...

maps!

I adore maps & make my own, plus diagrams & floor plans.

My city & regional maps are hand-drawn for my reference. There’s about a score of those.

The more formal maps fall into two categories. First are those for publication, which are simplified & in black & white. Their counterparts are the colorful attention getters. I create both on my computer. The application I’m currently using is Affinity Photo.

I've learned that in RPG if you give a thing a surface presentation people feel they can pigeonhole, you can be _playful_ with the layers.

Example: A fantasy nation is, on the surface, a French thing. Language, etc.

But the history is a carefully knitted mashup between Ethiopia and the state of Connecticut.

And the culture is the Islamic parts of medieval Iberia with a touch of 80s punk.

The audience will only see France. ☺️
Except one or two people. _Befriend them!_

Hello! Is there any / here?

I'm wondering if anyone knows any resources for
a story dealing with ? I'm creating a fanfiction loosely based off of Little Witch Academia, which has a magic system that's very open towards introducing different spells and creatures and whatnot.

I haven't written a proper multi-chapter fanfiction before, so I would like to do my best and research a core part of it.
