This book was Not Good. I put the over dramatics of the characters and the overuse of "bullshit" down to something being lost in translation, but it just took so long for any of the peices to come together and then it took a total 180 into this non-sensical convoluted medical plot. The romance tacked on almost as an afterthought was jarring and unbelievable and Alice was just this rude, reckless, unlikable person with a horrifying back story that may have been intended to make her sympathetic but ultimately failed.

I'm really glad I listened to this as an audiobook. The narration was beautiful, and the fact that it was the author herself no doubt added to that.
