Another brief review:

4.5 stars rounded up

I loved the characters and the magic system especially.

The pacing seemed to fluctuate at times, but it wasn't a big deal. I read this book fairly fast.

There are so many bits I'd like to point out specifically, but I'm not one to give away spoilers.

If you like interesting elemental magic systems, a smattering of romance, books, and librarians then this book might be the book for you!

The ending sets up book 2 perfectly which I will read without question.

Tasha Suri is clearly a talented author. This book would have been my favorite book of 2018, but I finished in 2019.

Mehr was a wonderful heroine and the plot kept me intrigued.

Those who desire lots of action from books might want to avoid this book. The pacing was slow at some points, but not irksome. I enjoyed the world, and the magic system was unlike anything I'd read before (which was good).

Five stars. I'm looking forward to more books in the series.

Not the be-all end-all of guides to outlining. This only shows one method for one style of formulaic book. I might try this method for a solo book at some point. There are good points in the book, but I feel the examples could have been better.
