Avid but slow-ish reader. I'm usually reading one fiction and one non-fiction book at a time. I love fantasy and hard sci-fi, mystery series. Non-fiction reading ranges from business and self-improvement to travel books and golf.
I hike, backpack, and walk. A lot. Much of the walking is on golf courses.

Good, but not great telling of the American side of the start of WWII in N. Africa (Operation Torch). I thought it lacked some strategic depth, but was a good read nonetheless.

Best strategic view of WWII overall that I've read. Love the British Commonwealth perspective that the author brings. More than a telling of the history, Roberts goes deep into the strategic mis-steps by Hitler throughout the conflict. Highly recommended.
Not a page turner and I nearly bailed out 1/3 of the way through. The tongue-in-cheek references to Hogwarts, Narnia, etc. plus some surprise twists kept me in and I'm glad I did. Looking forward to reading The Magician King.
Probably the best of the series so far, though hard to top the first. Story lines advanced, much more of a page turner than A Feast for Crows. Now it is time to dive into the Westeros forums to figure out what happened and why in the last 3 chapters!

Technically I didn't read the whole book but rather just skimmed the volume and read in depth a few sections. This is a book of books - pointers to potentially interesting titles. I think Nancy's recommendations are solid (or at least aligned with what I like) based on matches with my personal read list, and I found some good ideas for reading later this year.
