Originally, I got a third of the way in and realized I had no investment in the plot or characters. But I came back to it and restarted it months later and loved it. 🤷🏻

Immensely informative, even for someone who is somewhat knowledgable about Trans history. And the narrative itself is well woven. I normally struggle to stay engaged with nonfiction in audiobook format as I listen at work so my attention is always split, but the narrator was great at keeping it engaging and it was very clear when someone was being quoted or paraphrased.

The time jump at the beginning broke whatever suspension of disbelief I was able to achieve with the first book. I got 5 min into it and my brain just nope’d out.

Due to the whole theme of gaslighting, the last third of the book was hard to follow, at least in audiobook format. The pacing was also very.. unbalanced? Idk Ill have to see when the whole story is done but it seems like there may have been a better way to assemble this. Its good regardless but theres also a sting of lost potential.
