Three hundred years after the events of the Mistborn trilogy, Scadrial is now on the verge of modernity, with railroads to supplement the canals, electric lighting in the streets and the homes of the wealthy, and the first steel-framed skyscrapers racing for the clouds.

Kelsier, Vin, Elend, Sazed, Spook, and the rest are now part of history—or religion. Yet even as science and technology are reaching new heights, the old magics of Allomancy and Feruchemy continue to play a role in this reborn world. Pure Sanderson. This book blends the well constructed world of the Mistborn with a refreshing new world very akin to a Western. And creates two fun characters with unique personalities to fill it out. Not content with creating two cowboys with magic powers, he creates some additional supporting characters that are intersting, strong, smart, and nuanced. No mere ornaments to the main players.

All in all, if you like Sanderson, you'll like these books.

It's been about one hundred and six books since I read a Sanderson (the last was April), and I haven't spent any time in the Mistborn world in over 5 years. How crazy is that?
Yet I found myself utterly compelled, that 19th chapter was brilliant. If you're not anywere familiar with the world it's probably a harder one to get into than the original Mistborn trilogy, but for a first timer it's well worth the effort and for a fan, it's truly delightful.
