Is this the end of the Library?

5 stars

In the third instalment of the Invisible Library series, Irene and Kai are startled when a portal to the Library erupts into flames. We then discover this is not an isolated incident, but the result of a wider attack on the Library. Evil former Librarian Alberich is back, and he's on a mission to destroy the Library, recruiting allies among the Fae to help him. As Alberich wants to recruit Irene, a confrontation is inevitable. But as she battles to save the Library from complete destruction, Irene is given unexpected information about her past.

Decided to continue on with this series for now. The quality has continued, with this one being slightly better than the last 2. It's a mid series resolution with the main antagonist and it delivered a good, punchy story with some nice rounding out of the antagonist. It also set up the next arc subtly. The author is proving a master of pacing and structure in terms of keeping road under the wheels of her central concept. The retrograde, wish fulfilment settings still grate on me a little though. Can recommend.
