An enjoyable read, I took a lot of pleasure in seeing her early life unfold in the same ways as mine, and particularly liked her adult reflections of things children take for granted like her mother or her parent's marriage. Like her, I believe a good job is an unseen/unnoticed job. coming from humble beginnings both michelle and her brother acquired ivy league educations and high salary careers but both were unhappy with the results of being driven and successful. I couldn't help but wonder how their parents took it, having given most of their lives and resources to their children to 'swerve' to less prestigious vocations. I didn't realize that michelle's mother went to the White House with them and was instrumental in making life there with young children possible. what a universal revelation: no woman can have it 'all' (a family and full career) without unpaid, outside, usually …
