my favorite type of book - short stories that are linked in some way (in this case, through a newspaper publisher). the characters are wonderfully fleshed out and I found at least 2 of them freshly drawn but immediately recognizable. how can these people not have been on page before? anyhow, so enjoyable (and so slim), that it can be finished in one lovely afternoon. but I stopped myself from doing that - because I wanted it to last...
