read alongside my son for our WW1 chapters of history, i really enjoyed this tale set in england that neatly showed the ravages of war through the use of toys, some mud, and an active imagination. the christmas truce was also a nice touch.
written in 2001, it's nice to know that relevant, engaging historical fiction is still being written for the younger crowd.
