EVEN TEACHERS CAN BE HUMAN!

Marcy Lewis thought she had problems till Miss Finney arrived at school. The new teacher was interested in everybody and everything - even Marcy the blimp! It didn't stop Marcy hating gym, and using excuses like 'the cat ate my gymsuit' to get out of it. But it did help her confidence, and soon she could even talk to Joel without blushing a million shades of scarlet.

When Ms Finney got suspended for her controversial new teaching methods, Marcy knew that, for once, she couldn't keep quiet. She had to fight this injustice. And thanks to Ms Finney, she wasn't going to be alone. --back cover

read for the GD summer challenge (shelf discovery)
i thought i'd read this book before, but no - didn't strike a bell. it's told from the fat girl's point of view which is in contrast to Blubber, and this girl's self esteem is so low that she thinks her best friend only talks to her because her mother makes her. by the end of the book, it seems she's lost a bit of weight and gained a little esteem. don't know if that's a good message or not.
