this book had to have been inspired by the Toronto highschool teacher accused of sexually abusing his students and the reaction that his wife MUST have known. we get to hear the wife's thoughts as we searches for her own culpability (mostly believing his innocence until the end), and the daughter as she contemplates how to go forward (mostly believing his guilt until the end). and we're lucky because we get to know it's true. he did it. that extra layer is doubt is removed. which makes it all the more shocking that he simply gets his life back.
