Review of 'The Tail of Emily Windsnap (Emily Windsnap, #1)' on 'Goodreads'
2 stars
[guessing at the star rating / mining my old FB notes now that they are almost impossible to find]
read this for the mother/daughter bookclub tonight. after reading quality junior fiction, this was entirely too juvenile for both myself and daughter. i figure it's aimed to ages 8-9, girls who are just starting to form ideas about ideal love, and first recognize it within a perfect parental union. this is controlled, and very safe, and comes with an added bonus of being the result of that union: their baby.
the book did have a good riff on BFFs though - girls this age are all about best friends: seeking them out, bestowing these titles, and then finding out they have an expiration date. dumper or dumpee? what have you done for me lately?
this girl/girl stuff is all good training for future boy/girl stuff. or maybe it's the otherway around? …

this girl/girl stuff is all good training for future boy/girl stuff. or maybe it's the otherway around? maybe the lack of female fidelity is causing girls to accept how badly (and fickle-ly, if that's a word) boys can treat them. hmm. bears thinking about.
