loved this book!
author is a real, practising ER doc, so there were great technical things to learn (like nurses were put in a lottery before being assigned to the SARS unit (their seniority was down the pan if they refused), how doctors convince patients to consent to possibly life-endangering procedures/drugs, the treatment of corpses during a med student's anatomy course, functioning within sleep deprevation that is physically painful) , but he also captured the real parts of every day life - believing yourself into a panic, self doubt eating your earlier cockiness, the slow breathing of your partner lulling you into sleep...
