read alongside my son for SOTW, this is your typical 'year in the life of a pioneer' story. my son thought it was a girl doing 'huck finn'; i thought it was an upper class 'little house of the prairie'
there is no great hardship for this family that has the largest home in the town, and learn they are descendants of english nobility. for that reason, the little house series is superior. but the whole enterprise is worth it for this one hillarious story that the main character's brother invents. my son laughed aloud while at a store, and i laughed just as much alone in my car waiting for piano lessons to finish.
