Finally finished it. This was boooooooooooooring. Till page 400 I didn't even know what the story was about. The whole plotline with Raisa is a mess. The whole book could have been shortened to 150 pages and it would have been great. Look at the beginning, one of the villains is creating an illegal fire that nearly kills the royal family but it stays without consequence FOR THE COMPLETE BOOK. It just doesn't matter anymore, but it's a big thing in the beginning. Antagonist did a bad thing, and it's not picked up anymore. How can you build up interest for a story, if it doesn't follow clear plotlines. I don't see how the character description fits with the character's action, there is more show than tell. Important character's that could be used to make the story interesting get killed. You get the plans of the villains directly in the …

Important character's that could be used to make the story interesting get killed. You get the plans of the villains directly in the first three chapters, just all the other main characters are too stupid to see it. I mean what kind of broader hint do they need, to finally do something to prevent shit from happening. The end was good and I'm tempted to read the 2nd volume, but I'm not sure how to deal with it, when there isn't more action than in the first. I had the same issues with the Falling Kingdoms series (which is totally similar btw) and gave up with the 2nd book. Let's see, for now I need a break and a GOOD book again
