McDougall reveals the secrets of the world's greatest distance runners--the Tarahumara Indians of Copper Canyon, Mexico--and how he trained for the challenge of a lifetime: a fifty-mile race through the heart of Tarahumara country pitting the tribe against an odd band of super-athletic Americans.

Review of 'Born to Run' on 'Goodreads'

5 stars

Born to Run has got me interested in running again. I've tried to start up running many times since leaving the military, but it never lasted long. At least a few of the reasons for my quitting became very clear while reading this book. A lot of what I had been taught about running in the past always seemed like a mystery to me. It always felt unnatural. I never questioned it, however. I'm glad some people did and very glad it got into print.

Aside from all that, this was a really enjoyable book. Not just insightful, but a great story.
