The story in this book builds up well, up until about 75% of the way through, then it suddenly speeds up, as if the author realised a need to get it in under 400 pages. Just as you think everything is getting resolved and you'll find out what happens, it jerks in another direction (including a complete u-turn by one of the main characters) and leaves a major plot point unexplained. It's an interesting read, and makes you think about things like compulsory vaccination, but it could be so much better if the ending tied everything together and continued the same line as the rest of the book.
