Continuing my journey through last year's SF&F awards nominees.
This one was middling for me. I note it is generally well reviewed so I guess it just didn't entirely tickle my pickle. It's a Campellian Hero's Journey in a well realised alternate world. The world building is coherent and well thought out. The characters, however, I found a little one dimensional. It was well written and I didn't struggle to finish it but I wasn't enthused by it either.
