This was pretty good, I felt. A touch of the Carl Hiaasen in its sense of place even though it's tone is a far cry from Hiaasen's generally good natured hijinks.
This is a story about Texas and a story about the US. It takes the trends of climate change and America's war against its own people and extrapolates them to a worryingly plausible horror show.
It's a legal thriller, definitely laid out like any Grisham-esque potboiler. It clips along nicely with no flab. The characters maybe lack a little shade but they are compelling in their own way.
Definite recommend and I will be grabbing the second one soon.
