The Bone Ships

I had read the first of this author's debut series and not been too impressed. A bit too generic fantasy for my tastes. This came highly recommended and was much better.
It's still the Hero's Journey but with engaging characters and a premise of changing the world from its default grimdark to something better. This is a naval based tale and the rythms of sea life come through quite well.
I am happy to give it 4 stars and is a recommend if well written fantasy is your thing. I may not, myself, continue with the series though.
