I have no idea how I found out about that book in August, but ever since I read the blurb I was crazy about it: Pirates and Sirens. That should ring some bells.
I loved the book, love the story, I feel pretty satisfied atm, because I will never get enough pirates. Still, I had some problems, that didn't make this one perfect. Christo decided to make a standalone out if it, although there was so much potential for a 2nd volume (finding that out broke my heart a little). Don't get me wrong. A standalone is awesome, we do not have enough standalones. Also Christo is a Debut author, it's a smart decisions to start slow, so that there won't be any pressure for a second book. But since she decided to make a standalone wouldn't it have been possible to add 50 pages to flesh the story out? …
