Amazing. Close to the perfect adventure, with variety, intrigue, twists and turns, and even some interesting character development. Though I’ve read this before, I always struggled with the language, and this was the first time I could read without ever getting stuck or confused.

As an experiment, I read this in its original instalments from when it was published in Young Folks magazine in 1881, setting up an RSS feed to deliver me an instalment each Saturday. This was a great experience, keeping me longing for the next volume. I’ll be doing this with other serials in the future – anyone who’s reading this, let me know if you’d like to join me!

I started to read this book because my daughter had it as an assignment in the Literature class. This way, I could help her to go through the story and I can fill a gap in the list of books that everybody must read, but I haven't. So, it's not exactly the kind of book I like to read.

This is the original pirates story, so every other one has this as a reference. You can see how much the "Pirates of the Caribbean" saga has taken from this. Some times is hard to read, because of the pirates language and the maritime vocabulary.

I have find the characters rather plain, and I have only enjoyed Long John Silver, the pirate over all. He is treacherous, a liar and a murderer. All what is needed to save his life. The story is well known and there are no surprises in …
