Review of 'Dear Dodie' on 'Goodreads'

As with another book I read recently, the name of which has completely deserted me for now, this book has left me with a huge list of books I'd like to read. Being a drama and literature nerd I hugely enjoyed the characters who bobbed in Dodie's orbit and wake: actors, authors and other mortals, many of whom were familiar names but many weren't. Dodie in my opinion is not a hugely likeable character, too pampered and self-obsessed for my taste, and I found Alec's devotion mystifying, but the book is an interesting account of 20th century drama and writing and has taught me a great deal I didn't know about the nuts and bolts of staging a play, writing for Hollywood and writing and adapting works.
