Review of 'Prinzessin Insomnia & der alptraumfarbene Nachtmahr: Roman' on 'Goodreads'

I finally give up. The first book of the year to get dnfed. This book is not worth my time.
It's the most beautiful book I have ever seen. The pastel watercolors, the beautiful paper that is used, the book mark. But all of that doesn't make the story any better. It started pretty well, the beginning was actually funny ... until it started to drag. It takes one third of the book until finally an arc is starting. And then it all doesn't play in a world or a dream, but in a brain. I'm sorry but I was promised a different story in the blurb.
Even worse is what Moers did to my mother tongue. For a book that is about a princess playing with words. For whom words are a precious treasure, who in fact collects words, I can not accept the words "ach, geh mir doch …

Even worse is what Moers did to my mother tongue. For a book that is about a princess playing with words. For whom words are a precious treasure, who in fact collects words, I can not accept the words "ach, geh mir doch weg." coming out of her mouth. The whole conversations lacked any sense. Both characters blabbered on without sharing any important information. It just felt like filling space. Also I failed to see any real character traits. In fact they didn't have any character at all. It was more tell than show. Why exactly would the nightmare be evil. I didn't see him doing any evil thing but he talked about it for 20 pages.
This was not my first Moers book. I read "die Stadt der träumenden Bücher" before which I also didn't finish, but not because it was bad, but because life happened. But Prinzessin Insomnia was a waste of time after page 30 with every line I read. Maybe a linguistic professor can make sense of this book. Maybe there was some deeper meaning I just didn't get and I'm too stupid for the book. But this was not for me.
