An exclusive gated community, named after but having nothing to do with Pangbourne, other than being near Reading, is designed to encourage helicopter parenting. The teenage children rebel and become radicalised. All the parents are killed and the children go missing.
The book is quite short, and written as a diary and report by the police psychiatrist.
Written in 1988, the children communicate with each other using email or instant messaging, but no-one has a mobile phone.
