This book really is the complete history. Generally, it's dry, but it does have some great nuggets of information and stories that make it worth reading for the die-hard Sesame Street fan. I love SS, but I'm not a die-hard fan, so this book probably wasn't for me.
I did fine myself Googling some of the performer names, so I could connect their stories to faces, and the information regarding the attempted take over by Disney of the Muppet properties after Jim Henson's death was a bit disturbing and sad.
In many ways this is the story of Joan Cooney. She clearly is an amazing woman.
I would have liked a bit more about the addition of characters and the process behind some of the changes, including the failed changes in the 90s. Sad as it is, failure is interesting.
Finally, Caroll Spinney was a great choice as a narrator …

Finally, Caroll Spinney was a great choice as a narrator on this book. His normal voice holds a touch of Big Bird, so just listening to this book provided a feeling of nostalgia. And, the version I listened to has an added hour long interview with Spinney added after the ending of the book. This is a nice epilogue and a great end to the book.
