The third novel in Frederik Pohl's 'Heechee Saga', continuing the story of mankind's discovery of, and search for, an ancient space-faring civilization that had risen and then disappeared before the time intelligent life developed on earth.

Preceded by "Gateway" and "Beyond the Blue Event Horizon". Followed by "The Annals of the Heechee" and "The Boy Who Would Live Forever: A Novel of Gateway"

Review of 'Heechee rendezvous' on 'Goodreads'

2 stars

Disappointing - the Heechee become one of the narrators, but the meeting with the humans is underwhelming. The Bladerunner-style voiceover (well, text over) is very irritating and makes me think the story was rushed and these asides added later to fill in holes.
At least Robinette's first love escapes from the black hole. Probably best to stick with the first book, or maybe the first two.
