A bit hit and miss

3 stars

This started out as an interesting description of life in a futuristic utopian society, before becoming quite confusing and messy. About two thirds of the way through it descends into a nightmarish hellscape of what seems to be illogical and irrelevant dream sequences. The reason for this is eventually revealed but it never quite felt properly satisfying.

The characters are all just about believable and relatable but I never felt like I really cared about any of them.

Overall maybe worth a read, but not mind-blowing.

Great story in a single book!

The core plotline is pretty rote at this point: Something has gone wrong with earth, etc etc. ButI like the way this story is told, good characters, unique world, keeps you in the dark but not too much. Good moments of action and excitement as well as reflection. I said "whoa, this is a good book" out loud while reading. And extra points for it not being a trilogy or something that'd take a month to read through.

Not too quirky, but pretty unexpected
