The least interesting memoir I've read to date. The author would like you to know that he met some famous people (especially Mandela) and spent time in various countries, but interesting anecdotes and stories are few and far between. There's very little explanation of how he ended up as a diplomat and the writing jumps from one event to another with no narrative thread. The most telling thing is that all the quotes on the jacket are praise for the author, rather than the writing. On the plus side, it's a short and easy read, just make sure you don't pay the RRP or you may feel shortchanged.
