Chronicles of Amber

I really enjoyed this book, it’s proper epic fantasy with decent world building and some interesting concepts (I loved the idea of the Trump cards for communication and travel). The political manoeuvring is very Game of Thrones, although this series came first and there is significantly less gore and violence. The only downside is that, as is often the case in books of this era, the story is mostly about male characters, and the few female characters who are introduced exist mainly in their relation to male characters.
