Brief History of Modern India,A

A short, concise history of India, since Europeans started arriving in India. It does not contain much about Mughal expansion; however, some knowledge about terms used in the Mughal system is a must to understand the essence completely, especially for the chapters covering the period of 1600-1850.

It does not offer a detailed explanation of some of the later events in history, especially those from the post-independence period. However, for a quick understanding of the events in the last 400 years or so, this is an excellent book.
