Review of 'Rimrunners' on 'Goodreads'

4 stars

This is my least favourite of the Company Wars books. At least that is my memory of this from the 1990's and I have to say that impression was merely confirmed by this re-read. Certainly of the ones I have read again so far. That being said however, this is still a 4 star book.
This is a tight little story about finding a new home in one of these travelling space families when you were shanghaied at 16 onto a pirate ship and have spent the last 20 years preying on the people you now need to welcome you. Abandoned by the pirate ship, the protagonist now finds herself helping the hunters of the pirates.
This story has a place in the exploration of Cherryh's wider universe and is a taut tale of paranoia and gradual redemption.
It's still a definite recommend. Obviously.
