Loki: meow?

Me: Setting up a Mastodon account.

Hazel: meow

Me: This is my very -- and definitely -- account. I used to have one on a similarly-focused server, but one that has been having some stability issues. So I'm here now.

Loki: *MEOW*.

Me: Oh, right. Probably should let people know a bit more about me.

Filed under books I didn't know existed but found while browsing at my local #Library:

Its short, its all color watercolor sketches with some text over most panels, at most 4-5 panels per page. and it came out in 1983, pre-dating #StudioGhibli films. You see all these crazy ideas that show up in Ghibli's work over the decades, in proto-form. The writing is so tight; every panel is packed with just enough image and text. Wasn't published with translation into English until recently. #EisnerAward. Excellent.

Hey TTRPG friendos!

I have one spot at my table for my Studio Ghibli campaign.

It's a 5e campaign that is whimsical and fun, and I'm running it specifically for ppl newer to TTRPGs.

We play every other Saturday at 5pm pacific for 2-3hrs. It's low stakes, low pressure, and I make an effort to be welcoming and safe for marginalized genders and sexualities. If this sounds interesting to you, lemme know!

This morning at 7:50 a.m., about 43 (ish) people showed up to a theatre in Seattle for a private, Covid cautious screening of Hayao Miyazaki's latest film, The Boy and the Heron.

People took a rapid test and reported results to the organizers before arriving and wore high-quality masks at all times. Folks stayed home if they or anyone in their household felt unwell. Masks and tests were available on site if needed.

Cost was about $13 per ticket after donations from community members who wanted to help make the event accessible to folks.

CO2 was monitored and never got over 900.

The film was incredible. Knowing there are folks in my community who are willing to wake up early af because they haven't been to the theater in years due to was just as incredible.

Covid safe events aren't just possible, they're desired. Imagine how …

An entire afternoon most excellently spent with family yesterday at in Mitaka
It's mostly just a large building with 3 floors. A whimsical and beautiful space - no pics allowed inside just in the outside portions. Leaven/MrDough & the Egg Princess was the short in the theatre. Seeing the drawings and paintings of scenes was quite amazing. Highly recommend (book in advance - get tickets via Lawson)

The Secret World of Arrietty (2010), a magical world hidden in plain sight, brought to life by the beautiful background arts of Yoshida Noboru.

Yoshida notably worked on the detailed interiors of the Borrowers home in The Secret World of Arrietty. He's also made numerous contributions to the Ghibli Museum.
