@RunalongWomble happy Sunday, I'm good thanks I hope you are well too. I'm currently continuing my re-read of the Codex Alera series with book 2 Academ's Fury by Jim Butcher. I also read yesterday The Saga of King Hrolf Kraki which has some of the different types of magic from Northern Europe and similarities to Beowulf
Just cracked open my fresh copy of "Voornamelijk vrouwen" by Connie Palmen! Talk about fashionably late Christmas presents - this one took its sweet time getting here, but good things come to those who wait, right?
At this point my Palmen collection is reaching slightly obsessive levels, but can you blame me? Her writing style hits that sweet spot between philosophical depth and raw humanity that just draws you in. There's something about the way she peels back layers of human experience that makes you feel like she's reading your diary while simultaneously teaching you quantum physics.
@RunalongWomble Happy Sunday, I'm good thanks I hope you are well too, I'm a bit distracted by the snow and loving seeing the birds visiting our bird table for food. I'm currently reading The Tree Almanac 2025 by Dr Gabriel Hemery which is a nice cosy month by month read about trees and woodlands
@RunalongWomble good afternoon, I'm good thanks I hope you are well too
I'm currently reading The Saga of the People of Laxardal and Bolli Bollason's Tale as I got most of the Penguin Classics translations of Norse/Icelandic Sagas for Christmas and my Birthday so they will be popping up the next few months
My favourite read of the year was A History of the Roman Empire in 21 Women by Emma Southon. I'm looking forward to re-reading it next year
@RunalongWomble Good morning, I'm good thanks, I hope you are well too. I'm currently reading and enjoying The Bone Chests by Cat Jarman. I seem to have got into Anglo Saxon and Viking history recently as a lot of my recent reads cover this period of history
Good morning from a chilly, showery and blustery Sheffield, I hope you are all well
1. Switched my default browser back to Firefox which I haven't used for years
2. Bought some new PC games in the Steam Winter Sale
3. Really enjoying the book I'm reading at the moment which is The Bone Chests by Cat Jarman although a lot of the King's names are pretty similar at the moment starting with Aethl- and then different endings

@RunalongWomble hello, I'm good thanks I hope you are well too? I'm currently re-reading the excellent River Kings by Cat Jarman as I got a physical copy for my birthday. It is a great read about the trading connections within the Viking countries and the Middle East and beyond #CurrentlyReading #books #bookstodon
@RunalongWomble hello, happy Sunday, I hope you are well? I'm currently reading The Rabbit Hole Book by Richard Coles, Cat Jarman and Charles Spencer but I haven't started it yet as I have just finished reading Britain's Birds by Jo Woolf which was looking at the folklore as well as facts about some of the birds that live and visit the British Isles and has gorgeous illustrations of the birds
@RunalongWomble happy Sunday, I'm good thanks, I hope you are well too. I'm currently re-reading The History of the World in 100 Plants by Simon Barnes, which looks at the science, folklore and uses of the selected plants and includes gorgeous paintings of the selected plants
@RunalongWomble good morning, I'm good thanks I hope you are well too. I'm currently reading You Can't Spell Treason Without Tea by Rebecca Thorne. I'm really enjoying this as it is a cosy romantasy involving a bookshop and tea which are two of my favourite things
