I think I enjoyed this one even more than the first. The pacing feels snappier.

I’m listening to these, and I do intend to go through the series now that I’m invested in the characters. The narrator is fantastic, and I definitely enjoyed the musical transitions between chapters. They made me search for jazz to stream.

I like Simone in this even at the end. The interaction between her and Peter’s mother is priceless.

As much as I enjoyed the mysteries in this story, it feels like a hopping on point for more stories to come, particularly with the introduction of the evil magician and the recognition that Nightingale has been mistaken about the current status of the magical community.

I really want to know what the future has in store for Leslie. I was actually a bit irritated that she wasn’t more involved in this story. I want her to be healed, and then there was that last scene. Whoa!
