I think I like the Threshold series more when they are only loosely connected, like with just a glimpse of the of the other side or cameos of characters from the other novels. This is more of a direct sequel to 14 with mostly new characters.

My favorite character is The Specialist. Her quick wit and snarky comments made me laugh out loud several times.

My favorite part of Clines novels is his character development, and this novel is not different. The characters are interesting even if the plot is only mediocre. That said, I still wonder the purpose of one of the main characters other than the meta-authorial reference toward the end of the novel.

In the end this is a less-than satisfying but not bad addition to the Threshold universe. New Clines readers shouldn't start here, but Threshold lovers shouldn't skip this either.
