Absolutely amazing book. It's been on my list for years ever since my father kept telling me about it. Unfortunately, it's been hard to track down.
Even knowing how the book ends and the "spoilers" of what happens didn't diminish the book at all. You watch with dread the progress towards an inevitable death and tragedy and know there is nothing you can do about it.
Our protagonist, a scientist, decides that he must learn the truth about some things and we know this will lead to his death. Even knowing the outcome, it's hard to second-guess his decisions too much. Truly an amazing book.
